Champaign Police Department celebrates officers participating in Illinois Marathon Race Weekend

Champaign, IL – The Champaign Police Department recognized officers and staff who participated in the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon Race Weekend, alongside community members and volunteers who helped support the annual event.

The department congratulated all runners who took part in the races and thanked volunteers for their role in ensuring the weekend ran smoothly.

Several department members participated in multiple events, including Officer Rivera, who completed the half marathon; Officer Watkins, who ran both the 5K and half marathon;

Public Information Officer Lamberson, who competed in the 5K and 10K; Officer Sanchez, who ran the marathon; and Officer Carrillo, who also completed the marathon.

Officer Carrillo was additionally pictured with his brother, Rob Carrillo, who serves with the Aurora Police Department.

Officials said the department is proud of its members for representing CPD during the race weekend and supporting a community-wide event.
