Lane closures scheduled on Kirby Avenue in Champaign for three days of street repairs

Champaign, IL – Drivers in Champaign should expect traffic impacts on Kirby Avenue as a street repair project is scheduled to begin this week.

According to the City of Champaign, two lanes of Kirby Avenue at State Street will be closed beginning Wednesday, July 8, to allow Shaw Brothers to complete roadway repairs.

Officials said the lane closures are expected to remain in place for approximately three days, weather permitting.

Despite the construction, one lane of traffic in each direction on Kirby Avenue will remain open throughout the project to help maintain traffic flow.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone, expect possible delays and allow extra travel time while repairs are underway.
