Champaign fire department receives passenger rail safety training from Amtrak
Champaign, IL – This week, members of the Amtrak Police and Amtrak Emergency Management team provided Passenger Rail Safety & Response training to the Champaign Fire Department.
The training included instruction on safety protocols and emergency response procedures related to passenger rail operations.
In addition to the CFD sessions, Amtrak hosted two evening sessions for mutual aid partners within MABAS Division 28, ensuring that regional emergency responders received guidance on coordinated response efforts.
Officials said the training is part of ongoing efforts to enhance preparedness and strengthen collaboration between local fire departments and Amtrak in the event of rail-related emergencies.
