Five Champaign police officers graduate from University of Illinois Police Training Institute

Champaign, IL – Five probationary police officers graduated from the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and will now begin the next stage of their training with the Champaign Police Department.
The department congratulated Probationary Police Officers Fifield, Darling, Bailey, Lara and Alblinger following their graduation from the police training program.
The officers completed their academy training and are now set to enter CPD’s 20-week Field Training program. During that period, they will apply the skills and knowledge learned at the academy while carrying out the daily responsibilities of law enforcement officers serving the Champaign community.
The department also recognized two of the graduates for their achievements during the training program.
Probationary Officer Bailey served as a Squad Leader during the academy, taking on an additional leadership role among the class.
Probationary Officer Fifield received the Clifford VanMeter Scholastic Achievement Award after finishing as the top academic performer in the class.
Fifield recorded a 96.62% GPA, earning the highest academic standing among members of the graduating class.
The Champaign Police Department congratulated all five officers on reaching the milestone and beginning their careers with the department.
The upcoming 20-week Field Training program will give the new officers an opportunity to transition from classroom and academy instruction to practical law enforcement duties. They will work under the guidance of field training personnel as they gain experience responding to calls and serving residents throughout the community.
