Champaign Fire Explorers complete live fire training at Illinois Fire Service Institute

Champaign, IL – Members of Champaign Fire Post 207 put their training to the test by participating in the Illinois Fire Service Institute Explorer Cadet Fire School, where they took part in live fire drills after months of preparation.

The City of Champaign Fire Department said the Explorers attended the cadet program last weekend, applying the firefighting skills they developed throughout the year in realistic, hands-on training scenarios.

Despite challenging heat and humid conditions, the participants completed the live fire exercises designed to strengthen their firefighting knowledge, teamwork, and practical skills.

The department praised the Explorers for their dedication and commitment, congratulating the group on successfully completing the demanding training experience.

The Illinois Fire Service Institute’s Explorer Cadet Fire School provides young people interested in the fire service with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning alongside fire service professionals in a controlled training environment.

City of Champaign Fire officials said they were proud of the group’s performance and the effort they demonstrated throughout the weekend training.
