East 7th Street and North Dunn Street intersection now has an all-way stop in place

Bloomington, North Dakota – According to a news release from the City of Bloomington, the intersection of East Seventh Street and North Dunn Street will become an all-way stop.
According to his 180-day order, city engineer Andrew Cibor imposed the all-way stop regulation in response to a rise in traffic accidents at the crossroads.
Cibor’s staff reported one reported collision in 2019 and 12 reported crashes in 2022 that were related to the crossing to the Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Commission and Traffic Commission.
In the fall of 2021, the intersection’s all-way stop was eliminated. Coordination with the 7-Line project allowed for the removal of the control. A protected cycling lane known as the 7-Line links the B-Line with downtown Bloomington, the IU campus, and other communities. In 2018, the 7-Line project received approval. Any permanent stop sign modifications will be decided by the City Council on May 10.
According to Cibor’s order, the adjustment was requested by the Traffic Commission, the Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Commission, and other locals. “In order to reduce crash risk at this intersection, it will be converted back to all-way stop control,” the order said.
