Toledo Mosque Damaged After Early Morning Car Crash
Toledo, Ohio – A car crashed into the side of a mosque in central Toledo early Sunday morning, leaving a large hole in the building. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at the Muhammad Mosque #91, located at the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and Brown Avenue.
According to Toledo Fire and Rescue Department (TFRD), a white SUV collided with the mosque but was unoccupied when emergency responders arrived on the scene. Firefighters reported no crash victims at the scene or in local hospitals, indicating that the driver may have fled the area after the crash.
By Sunday afternoon, the damage to the mosque had been temporarily sealed off with boards, securing the building from further exposure. No injuries have been reported, and there is no indication that anyone was inside the mosque at the time of the crash.
WTOL 11 reached out to the mosque for comment, but as of this report, no response has been received. Authorities are investigating the incident, but no further details about the driver or the cause of the crash have been disclosed.
