Champaign Police encourage residents to report suspicious activity during National Crime Prevention Month
Champaign, IL – During National Crime Prevention Month, the Champaign Police Department encouraged residents to take proactive steps to protect their homes and property, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in keeping neighborhoods safe.
The department highlighted a key safety tip — reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement. Officers reminded residents of the familiar phrase, “If you see something, say something,” noting that even with regular patrols, police may not always witness incidents as they occur.
Residents were urged to call 911 in emergencies or contact 217-333-8911 for non-emergency concerns. Police said such calls can make a significant difference in allowing officers to respond quickly and assist when needed.
The department also encouraged the public to adopt simple safety habits to enhance personal security and reduce risks within the community. Additional crime prevention resources and safety tips are available on the City of Champaign’s website.
